Chinese-born pianist Pinshu Yu is currently a DMA candidate in piano performance with UC Santa Barbara professor Paul Berkowitz and an MA student in Music Theory. Mr. Yu holds a Performance Diploma in Piano Performance from Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music and a Master of Music in Piano Performance from New England Conservatory of Music with highest honor. He also gained double bachelor degrees (BA and BS) from Peking University, majoring in Korean Literature and in Psychology. As a pianist, he has performed in major cities in United States and China, including Boston, New York, Beijing, and Shanghai. His previous piano teachers include Edward Auer, Veronica Jochum, Anne Epperson, and Futaba Niekawa. He also performed in master classes of pianists such as Hung-Kuan Chen, Yefim Bronfman, Peter Frankl, Richard Goode, Anton Kuerti, Jerome Lowenthal.
