Student Recital: Buyun Li

Graduate pianist Buyun Li will present a doctoral recital on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 7:30 pm in Karl Geiringer Hall on the UC Santa Barbara campus. The program will include works by Domenico Scarlatti, W.A. Mozart, Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, and Franz Liszt. Li is a student of Professor Charles Asche.

About the Artist

China-born pianist Buyun Li graduated from Xinghai Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree and received her two Music degrees in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) on scholarship. She is currently a doctoral student in Piano Performance and a Teaching Assistant at UCSB, where she studies with esteemed pianist, Charles Asche. Li won the First Prize in the UCO Concerto Competitions in 2014, and appeared as a soloist, performing Bach's Keyboard Concerto No.1, with UCO Symphony Orchestra. Li took the Third Prize and Best Bach Performance Prize in the Kuleshov International Piano Competition in 2015. In 2019, she was one of the finalists and won a scholarship in PASF (Performing Arts Scholarship Foundation) in Santa Barbara. Li has also participated in master classes with many notable musicians, such as Andrew von Oeyen, Brad Bennight, Edward Gates, Read Gainsford, Nelita True, and Jeremy Denk.
